We're back!
On resuming writing after a pause
I sat down today to resume writing this book, and realized how much of it has leaked out of my brain in the break. It’s funny how much one can forget in a couple weeks, and funnier still how hard it can be to decipher notes that made perfect sense when I was in the midst of daily writing for this story.
That said, I’ll be resuming the 200 words a day pace, which meansnext week should have a new stretch of content to share! Today has largely been reading what I wrote so far from start to finish in one sitting, allowing myself to indulge in some light editing, and refreshing myself on the context and ideas I had rattling in my brain from before.
And, not to toot my own horn, but… just as there was inevitably sections I felt needed polish in terms of the prose and clarity, there were also passages that were genuinely fun to revisit. “Oh,” I found myself thinking, “this action sequence does play out well. This passage does capture a wistful, charming tone. Orion is a totally insufferable butt at all the right moments.”
If you want to read the book so far, you can start with the first entry into the project here. And if you wanted to support my work and get access to a digital ARC (advanced reading copy) with the latest edits and all the chapters in order, you can subscribe below!
Thanks as always for reading along, and excited for more Everden adventures in 2026!
